LAS SACERDOTISTAS DE MACHU PICCHU
PERU
2012

A spectacular contemporary circus performance, this choreographic work is inspired by the studies and archaeological discoveries done at Machu Picchu.
This studies and discoveries describe the spiritual center as a place inhabited almost exclusively by female priests.
In this scenario a "pilgrim curaca", arrived from the north coasts of ancient Peru, brings gifts and blessings while he searches for answers. This pilgrimage eventually reveals the imminent end of the Andean universe as he knows it and the exodus to come.

A beautiful and mysterious show performed by a solid international art crew.

LIQUID THEATRE
USA/RUSSIA

Carson ran first into  Kseniya Petrenko and Aleksei Zherebtsov who co-direct together Liquid Theatre at the Jacobs Pillow Choreographers Lab. A true test that sometimes art can transcend language barriers and cultural differences, Kseniya doesn't speak really a word of English and Carson didn't speak a word of Russian but sometimes people just know they like each other. True artists with taste and creativity that Carson wishes one day to be able to stand next to as a creator  she performed with them twice over the next two years when they returned to the states. A site specific performance at the Muesum for Art and Architecture and another performance at the former Joyce Soho. She regretfully was in Peru when they came again to San Francisco though  she did for a good minute consider jumping on a plane to join them for the week!(This is how much she loves their work and them) She hopes in the near future to finally manage the funding to visit them on their own soil and join them once again on stage.

DOVETAIL/OLD DOORS NEW WORLDS

USA

2009-2012

Carson was one of the first members and the first dancer to be part of of DOVETAIL that is curated by the Grammy nominated fiddler Andrea Hoag.  She with much pleasure had the honor to work and perform with some most renowned and most musicians during her time with the group which was from 2009-2012.

The Dovetail Ensemble arose from the Old Doors/New Worlds project, which from 2009-2012 brought together musicians and dancers from different traditions, generations, and parts of the country to create new music. The project was unique among collaborations in its focus on process as well as product: How do we make what we make? What do we learn about our own art, and about communication, when we collaborate? What do traditional arts mean to us in a world of instant information?
Diverse traditions collaborate with stunning artistry and deep respect when GRAMMY® nominees and international touring artists meet in a new ensemble. Each voice is memorable. Together they soar.

The Dovetail Ensemble is a flexible company of stellar performers. Each concert is fresh and surprising, inviting audiences into the process of collaboration as well as its thrilling results. A Dovetail Ensemble performance is playful, deep, intricate, and straight
to the heart.
